Fatum Elisum ‎– Homo Nihilis - CD

If you are an experienced listener of doom metal, then you would know a lot of bands take their time in building up a song. Sometimes it creates tension and atmosphere but at other times, it just gets a little boring. Fatum Elisum are a bit of both and just the fact that on this album, 'Homo Nihilis' they stretch four songs plus an intro out passed what seems like at least 70 minutes - the result is an exhausting, hard slog of an album. When it comes to style, the band is interesting. The basic formula is tied to death-doom, especially Paradise Lost, My Dying Bride, Evoken and Mourning Beloveth but there is also a strong trad-doom element in the vein of Saint Vitus and Candlemass.
